Pakistan, the world’s fifth-largest democracy, conducted its 2024 elections on Thursday. The polling exercise, touted as the most expensive in the country’s history, witnessed a massive voter turnout as citizens cast their ballots to choose representatives for the next five years.
As the voting concluded in Sindh’s 130 constituencies, the atmosphere became charged with anticipation, reflecting the high stakes in the province’s electoral landscape.
Sindh, with a substantial population of 46.126 million, played a pivotal role in the electoral arena. Official figures revealed 26,994,769 registered voters, with 54.13% being male (14.612 million) and 45.87% female (12.382 million).
The early results from the 2024 elections indicate a tight race, keeping the nation on edge as the counting of votes is underway. The outcome will shape the political landscape for the next five years, determining the composition of the Sindh Assembly and the National Assembly, and potentially influencing the future leadership of the province.
